Dungiven Celtic F.C.
Thirds beaten by Lincoln Reserves
Dungiven Thirds were beaten by 4 goals to 1 by Lincoln Courts Res in the final of the North West Supplementary Cup at Wilton Park, a win that the Waterside team fully merited. It was a difficult day for football and the conditions suited the physically stronger Lincoln lads. Dungiven opened well but a series of heavy challenges made it tough for them. The referee got his book out after the fifth poor challenge when really the player should have been watching by that stage. Lincoln led 1-0 at the interval and Dungiven equalised early in the second half through Rian Kealey with a good header. Lincoln were ahead almost immediately after quite woeful defensive play, and the third goal sealed matters. Again there were a number of opportunities to clear the danger. The fourth goal in the closing stages gave the scoreline a realistic outcome. The North West League should surely be doing something to make life more comfortable for spectators. There was a good crowd at this game but they were soon soaked and freezing. Covered accomodation is a must especially for games played at this time of the year. There's a lot of publicity about the development of local stadia, but do the authorities mean stadia of senior clubs. Probably, as is usually the case, but not fair!
